The East Kootenays of British Columbia, Canada, has a diverse assortment of birds and animals. The recent extirpation of the Southern Purcell Mountain Caribou herd and the falling elk herd numbers tell us that habitat protection and responsible management are essential to the continuance of these and other species. Let conservation be our legacy!
The bodies of birds and animals are beautifully built to move efficiently. Gene mutations and natural selection play their part, but the flow of energy through their tissues also contributes to the simplicty and efficaciousness of their design. (Bejan/Zane "Design in Nature")
